IOL Refractive Surgery

Refractive errors including nearsightedness and farsightedness require nearly half of American adults to wear glasses or contacts.

If you are ineligible for LASIK due to dry eyes, misshapen corneas, or other diseases, IOL refractive surgery may be a good alternative.

How can IOL refractive surgery help you?

Achieve Lasting Improvement with IOL Refractive Surgery

No More Fragile, Expensive Corrective Eyewear

Glasses can interfere with your lifestyle and limit your field of vision, while contacts are often difficult to maintain and expensive to replace.

Your Comfort Is a Priority

Discomfort during this short 15-minute surgery is minimal and the results can be life-changing. During the procedure, you will be given anesthetic eye drops to reduce sensitivity.

Eliminate Future Eye Diseases

IOL surgery replaces your natural lens with an artificial intraocular lens. This surgery can reduce your risk of cataracts and help you achieve near-perfect distance correction and sharper focus for a lifetime.

The Majority of Patients Have Experienced a Positive Outcome

How Do You Know Which Is Right for You?

Your surgeon will help you decide which type of intraocular lens will best help you achieve better vision. These include monofocal, toric, multifocal, and accommodating lenses.  Every eye is different, and your surgeon will recommend an option that is appropriate for your unique prescription to help you achieve more focused, clearer eyesight

The Steps to Clearer Vision

During your initial exam, your surgeon will examine the health of your eyes and measure elements such as length, dimensions, and corneal shape to plan your surgery.

On the day of surgery, anesthetic eye drops will be used to numb your eye.

Your doctor will create a small incision on your cornea.

They will then create room for the new lens using an injectable medication.

Your new implantable lens will be inserted using a small tool.

Most patients do not require stitches and are sent home the same day of surgery.

Your doctor will schedule follow-up appointments to ensure the success of your surgery. In most cases, your doctor will also prescribe eye drops to reduce the risk of infection and other complications.

Ask Your Doctor About Your Options

LASIK surgery typically costs about $2,000 per eye, while IOL refractive surgery can cost around $4,000 per eye. However, LASIK may not be the most appropriate treatment for some cases. For example, IOL refractive surgery can correct almost any level of farsightedness, including severe cases not treatable with LASIK. If you are nearsighted, your doctor may recommend an alternative corrective surgery with a reduced risk of complications.

In a single procedure lasting 15 minutes, you can achieve sharper vision without contacts or glasses for the rest of your life. Schedule an appointment with an eye doctor to learn more.
